Privacy policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

This policy covers the TagFix app (Android and iOS) and the website tagfix.app.

In short

  • TagFix needs no account, and we run no server that stores your projects.
  • Your projects, photos, plans and reports are on your device. They leave it only when you share or export something.
  • The weather lookup, crash reports and usage statistics are off until you turn them on.
  • The app shows no ads and uses no advertising ID. The website sets no cookies.

The app

Project data on your device

Everything you record in TagFix (projects, companies, defects, daily reports, handovers, photos, plans, signatures and reports) is stored in the app's private storage on your device. We have no access to it.

The data leaves your device only in these ways:

  • when you share a report or export a backup, to the destination you choose;
  • on an iPhone or iPad through Apple's iCloud device backup, if you have turned it on for your device. Android does not include the project data in its cloud backup.

An exported ZIP backup is not encrypted and contains all the data of the export. Keep it somewhere safe.

Photos

When you take or import a photo, the app removes its metadata except for the capture time. GPS coordinates are not stored in the image file and appear in no report.

Weather (only with your consent)

If you allow the automatic weather lookup, the app sends the date and the rough position of the site, rounded to about 3 km (2 miles), to the weather service Open-Meteo, and for sites in Germany also to Bright Sky, which serves the data of the Deutscher Wetterdienst. As with any request on the internet, these services learn the IP address of your device. The project keeps the rounded position on your device.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in the app's settings and enter the weather by hand instead.

Crash reports (only with your consent)

If you turn on crash reports, the app sends a report after a crash to Firebase Crashlytics, a service of Google Ireland Limited: what went wrong in the app, the app version, the operating system, the device model and a random ID of the installation. Names, addresses, photos and the content of your projects are not included.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can turn the reports off again at any time in the settings.

Usage data (only with your consent)

If you share usage data, the app sends to Google Analytics for Firebase, a service of Google Ireland Limited, which screens you open and when you create a project or defect, generate a report, look at the plans and prices, or reach a limit of the free plan. It never sends names, texts, photos, places or the content of your projects, and no advertising ID.

The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in the settings, which also deletes the data collected from your device until then.

With both Firebase services, Google may also process data in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Purchases

You buy the Project Pass and TagFix Pro through Apple's App Store or Google Play. The store handles the payment; we receive neither your name nor your payment details. The app checks on your device whether a purchase exists. The stores' own privacy policies apply to their processing.

Permissions

  • Camera: to take photos.
  • Approximate location: only for the weather lookup, and only after your consent.

You pick photos from your gallery with the system's photo picker; the app needs no access to your whole gallery for that.

The website

Server logs

When you open this website, our server processes the data your browser sends: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the page you came from (referrer), and your browser and operating system. We need it to deliver the page and to fend off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure service (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The logs are deleted after 14 days at the latest.

No cookies

This website sets no cookies and uses no similar techniques to recognize you. The fonts are served by our own server.

Links to the app stores

The buttons for the App Store and Google Play are plain links. Apple or Google receive data from you only when you click them; their privacy policies apply then.

Contact by email

When you write to us, we process your email address and the content of your message to answer you (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR). We delete the message once it is dealt with and no legal retention period applies.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability, and the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw a consent at any time with effect for the future. To do so, write to info@tagfix.app.

The data in the app is only on your device. You can view, export and delete it there yourself at any time.

You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner (Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte).

Changes

We update this policy when the app, the website or the law changes. The version published here applies.
